It’s really very simple. You want to do a little extra to help out, and this is the simplest thing you can do–tell people. Ask them to sponsor you by subscribing to the newsletter. They’ll have the opportunity to name you as the Advocate they wish to sponsor, and you’ll be recognized for your efforts to raise awareness.

If you’re not sure what to say, you can copy and paste the paragraph below into an email to send to your people, or copy it to a text and send it out with your mobile device. It would be fantastic, though, if you could send out a personalized message. Truthfully, there’s nothing we can say that would be as effective as your personal reference.

Hi! I don’t know if you’ve heard of them, but there’s this homeless outreach organization that’s helping people get back on their feet again. They have a newsletter where they share people’s stories and talk about their experiences and basically anything having to do with homelessness. They sell subscriptions to the newsletter for about a buck a week ($5/month actually), and they use the money to help people get off the street. I became an advocate for them, and I was hoping you would sponsor me by subscribing, too. Check out their site when you get a chance. There’s a place to type in my name to sponsor me as an advocate. Please, please, please, even if it’s just for a few weeks, if you feel like it’s too much to afford after that, you can cancel whenever you want.
